Artist Bio

I graduated with an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and enjoyed a 17 year career in the field. In 2000, I earned my Masters in Spiritual Psychology and started to create my life with intention from my heart. I was working in the social work field when a friend suggested I take a pottery class. I have always enjoyed working with my hands, so I enrolled in my first pottery class in 2007 and fell in love. I didn’t know what clay would have in store for me, but I knew I liked it and was happier exploring pottery than working in trauma. So, I quit my job and went to apprentice with Squidge Davis of Monroe, Maine, studied at Haystack and Penland Schools of Crafts and have participated in numerous workshops in the US and Japan. I was generously offered an opportunity to teach pottery which I loved and continue to love today! In addition to the fun of teaching, I knew I wanted something with more “heart”. Quickly, a friend invited me to bring my potter’s wheel into an Alzheimer’s center. I had no experience with those living with dementia, but I went anyway and was absolutely blown away by the love, laughter and joy we shared that day. I continue to love going into assisted and skilled nursing centers across Connecticut hopefully creating moments of friendship and joy through art. My personal clay work reflects my many interests and expressions in this world - quite and meditative, whimsical and bold and physical. In a nutshell, clay is a means by which I explore love, connection, and joy with others and within mySelf. Who knows what lies ahead?!?
